Your Bartram Park Neuropathy Specialists
Find the Real Cause of Your Nerve Pain
Our Bartram Park office is Peripheral Neuropathy Specialists' main location, and it's where Dr. Mark A. Matey sees patients from across South Jacksonville and the growing St. Johns County corridor, including Mandarin, Julington Creek, Fruit Cove, St. Johns, Durbin, and Nocatee, with many patients also traveling from Ponte Vedra Beach and St. Augustine.
Every new patient starts with a comprehensive diagnostic workup: a Neurologic Multipoint Exam, Infrared Thermal Imaging, Transcutaneous Oxygen Measurement (tcpO2), and a Venous and Arterial Duplex Study, since circulation problems and nerve damage often occur together. Dr. Matey brings more than two decades of podiatric and wound care experience to that process, including years spent helping open the Baptist Medical Center Wound Care Institute, the first center in Northeast Florida to offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy for wound healing.

Frequently Asked Questions
In most cases, neuropathy can't be fully cured, but it can often be significantly improved. Treatment depends on what's causing your symptoms: correcting an underlying cause, like a vitamin deficiency or circulation problem, sometimes leads to real improvement, while nerve damage from long-term diabetes tends to respond better to symptom management than a full reversal. We'll be upfront with you about which situation applies once we know what's going on.
Most patients describe extracorporeal shockwave therapy as producing a mild pressure or tapping sensation. Some areas may feel more sensitive than others, but the treatment doesn't typically require anesthesia, and most people return to normal activity the same day.
Numbness, tingling, or pain in the feet and legs can come from several different sources, including diabetes, nerve compression, or a circulation problem like venous insufficiency. A lot of the patients we see at our Bartram Park office travel in from Mandarin, Julington Creek, and St. Johns County specifically because they've been told they have "neuropathy" without anyone actually checking what's causing it. A proper diagnostic workup is the only way to know for sure.
Our Bartram Park office is easy to reach from South Jacksonville and St. Johns County, right off I-95. We offer a free consultation and diagnostic evaluation to help you understand what's causing your symptoms, and most treatment is billed through insurance with mostly no out-of-pocket cost. We look forward to seeing you!
